What is the chicago magic lounge? What goes on here?

Short answer: MAGIC. 

Long answer: The Chicago Magic Lounge is a magic theater and lounge, specializing in close-up, sleight of hand, and parlor magic. We have ticketed magic show performances seven-nights-a-week and a family-friendly matinee on Sundays (find more information about our shows here). Our venue features an Art Deco-style interior, secret doors, and a Performance Bar with a magician on duty from open to close that is open to the public and does not require tickets.


Do we need tickets?

We have ticketed performances seven-days-a-week for the Harry Blackstone Cabaret Theaterâ„¢.  654 Club performances occur Thursday - Sunday directly after the Signature Show and are included with Front Row, Mezzanine and Premium Main Floor tickets. Please see the individual ticket pages for showtimes. The Performance Bar is open to the public and does not require a ticket for entrance. The bar opens at 5:30pm nightly (not open during The Family Show). Please note, the bar gets very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights before and between performances. Entrance to the bar is based upon capacity.


Are seats reserved? How early should we arrive?

Tickets are purchased by section, not by specific seats. Seating is assigned within each section based on party size prior to the show by our Front of House staff.  We recommend that you arrive no later than 5 minutes prior to the time listed on your ticket.

Seating in the Performance Bar is limited and reservations will not be taken.  While no tickets are required, entrance to the bar is based upon capacity.


What if my party is purchasing tickets separately?

If you are purchasing tickets separately from others in your party, leave a note at checkout stating the last names of the rest of your party and our Front of House team will seat your party together.


Do you offer group rates?

A discounted group rate is available for groups of ten or more to our 7:30pm shows Monday through Thursday. Group rates for Signature Shows are only available for the 10pm performances on Friday and Saturday and the 7pm show on Sunday.

We do not offer group discount rates for the 7pm Signature Show performances Thursday through Saturday.


How far in advance should I purchase tickets? Do you have a waitlist available?

As of the writing of this FAQ guide, our 7:00pm Signature Shows on Fridays & Saturdays are selling out a week in advance, so we would recommend that you plan ahead and purchase early. We will start a waitlist on the day of the sold out performance. Guests may only be added to the waitlist here in person and must be present to claim any seats which may become available.  We will know if tickets become available between 8:00 - 8:30pm.

For the rest of the week, we would advise purchasing your tickets a couple of days before the performance or check the individual ticket pages here for availability.


Can I change/cancel/refund tickets?

While we are unable to offer refunds on ticket purchases, we are glad to exchange them to another performance. Requests to exchange tickets must be made no later than 2 days prior to the event. We do not offer refunds or exchanges for past events. There is no fee to exchange tickets.  

Any changes to group sales tickets must be made one week in advance of performance. Exchanges within the week will be at the box office manager's discretion.


Are there age restrictions?

Patrons of the Performance Bar must be 21.  We do allow persons aged 16 - 20 into the Harry Blackstone Cabaret with a parent or guardian.  The Family Show on Sundays is suitable for ages 5 and up.


Is there parking?

Unfortunately, we do not have a parking lot or valet services available.  Street parking on Clark and Ashland is free after 10pm and some of the side streets may be available without permit.  We are closest to the #22 Clark bus, #92 Foster bus or a 10-minute walk from the Argyle red line.  We are approximately a 20-minute ride from downtown by taxi, Lyft or Uber. Is there a dress code?

First and foremost, our guests' comfort is our top priority, but we invite you polish up those old cuff links or break out those cute, new heels for date night.  While we do not have a dress code, a night at the Chicago Magic Lounge is a perfect occasion to show off your flair for a night on the town.


Do you serve food?

Yes!  We serve appetizers and small plates ideal for sharing. Food is available in the Performance Bar beginning at 6pm and in the cabaret as soon as guests are seated.  There is table service and full bar available during every performance. Check out our menu here.


Can I bring a Food/cake/cupcakes for a birthday party?

We do not allow outside food or beverages in our establishment.  We do have food and drink available and we are pleased to offer the birthday person either a complimentary glass of sparkling wine OR a pair of delicious chocolate dessert truffles.  If you are planning a private event, please contact our Chief Operating Officer, Lesley Stone for information on food and beverage packages.
