Armstrong from the first family of black magicians; and Richard Potter, who was born to a slave and her master, becoming the first American born professional magician.

Quiet Masters will also introduce to you, some of the world's current and future Black magical artists, who are making their mark on history. Producer/Director Kenrick Ice McDonald and Associate producer Tevell Rose, have traveled throughout the United States and parts of the world, collecting interviews for this ground breaking documentary.

Producer/Director - Master Magician Kenrick Ice McDonald, Two-time Entertainer of the Year and recently the 2018 Society of American Magicians' National Magic Hall of Fame Inductee, wanted to shine the light on what many see as unknown historical and current facts about the black magical artists. You are now able to see this entertaining and educational documentary that will make you smile, laugh, and even cry, on Amazon Prime Video.

"I am ecstatic to be finally releasing this documentary, and having the opportunity to show some wonderful artists, their talent and the journey through their magical life". -Kenrick “Ice” McDonald

What to do when you are asked to perform for a group of people, but don't have any of your props with you? This Lecture could save your life (or at least your life of the party reputation).

An international award-winning entertainer from Los Angeles, CA, Ice has established a stellar performance reputation with his grand illusions, and spectacular appearances of doves out of thin air. Infusing each illusion with distinct cultural and technical elements, Ice McDonald is the master of captivating excitement. "Ice's magical performance is wonderful and his stagecraft is excellent", said the late Billy McComb, as Vice President of The Magic Castle in Hollywood. Ice has sold out performances at The Magic Castle, and broken attendance and box office records at Monday Night Magic in New York City, James Crown Theatre in Canada, Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans, as well as theatres and venues worldwide.

Ice has appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", and was recently featured on My Network TV's (FOX) "Masters of Illusion". He has been honored with his inclusion in the history book, "Magical Heroes: The Lives and Legends of Great African-American Magicians". Ice has also been featured in the documentary, "The Art and Soul of Magic--The Story of American's Black Magicians". Genii Magazine, in their recent article on Ice, dubbed him The King of Cool. Ice produced and starred in the "African American Masters of Magic" television special, which was featured in The Linking Ring magazine.

The Round Table Sessions

In the spirit of past incarnations of the Chicago Magic Roundtable, and inspired by the famed Long Beach Mystics, every third Tuesday we’ll gather in the 654 Club to devote our energies to helping one another by working on new material and getting feedback from our peers. There’s only one rule for these “works in progress” sessions: if you attend, you’re expected to participate, so be ready to work and contribute! If you don’t have a work in progress to share and receive feedback on, bring your magical mind and observation skills so you can provide feedback to others.

Have a routine that is untested, unfinished, or in need of assistance? This is an opportunity to get helpful suggestions, fresh perspectives, and generally get “unstuck,” clearing away obstacles in the learning and creative process. Together, we have decades of experience and a vast body of knowledge; let’s use those to improve our magic!

pisciotta2.jpg

Mike Pisciotta is an acclaimed performer based in Los Angeles, CA and serves as the resident magician for the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. Mike creates powerful, beautiful moments of mystery, and his performances leave the viewer with a profound sense of wonder.

Mike is recognized by his peers as one of the greatest performing magicians today, and is a two time winner of the prestigious "Close-Up Magician of the Year" award for the Academy of Magical Arts.

Some of the effects Mike will teach include:

Mike's Opener – Showing off a bit of skill, a one-handed cut finds the wrong card, and a fancier cut has the same result. So, the first card changes to the selection.

The Time Lord – This three phase routine is one of Mike’s most requested at the Magic Castle.

Jokers Thru Time – A card appears face-down among four face-up jokers. This card is set aside. Then, a selected card vanishes from among the jokers. And get this... the card set aside earlier... no, it's not the selected card... it's all four jokers! And where they were a moment ago, that is the selected card. This is Mike’s version of the Alex Elmsley classic Between Your Palms.

Three Way Play - A real workers coins across. This is Mike’s favorite walk around effect.

Boxing Match – An impromptu card thru box using borrowed decks.

Coming Up – A selected card rises out of the middle of the deck with no gimmicks and no threads.

Flying Sandwich – A transposition sandwich routine that fools magicians.

Simple Evanescence – A repeat, no palm card to wallet effect. Super-clean and instantly repeated while the wallet is in full view.

Plus more!

This workshop is available for Round Table Members for only $40, limited seating available.

We expect this to sell out very quickly.

Morgan & West Lecture: Presented by S.A.M. 3

pic8-94.jpg

Free to Round Table Members!

Morgan and West met whilst studying at Oxford in the late nineteenth century. It was in that most reclining of seats of learning that the duo’s love of deception and legerdemain was born, and they would have been joined at the hip ever since, were it not for the vast discrepancy in the height of their pelvises.

In the intervening centuries these time travelling tricksters have performed their unique brand of magic, wit and whimsy on stages all over the UK, and indeed all around the world. Anywhere there are boards to be trodden, crowds to be wowed or tea to be drunk Morgan & West will be there with miracles in tow.

Join Don Wiberg for an afternoon reminiscing about the characters who
frequented the Chicago Magicians Roundtable in the Loop. Don, a Past
International President of the International Brotherhood of Magicians is
probably one of a few remaining magicians who can remember many of the
regulars who joined together almost daily at the Drake’s Mayors Row
restaurant at 131 North Dearborn and has a story or two to tell about most of
them.

Don will use as a basis of his presentation, the classic drawing by Salvatore
Salla. If you’re interested in what how the Chicago Magicians Roundtable
contributed to making Chicago an important center of magic in the United
States, be sure to come to the Chicago Magic Lounge on July 14, 2014 at

Winner of numerous awards, including Close Up Magician of the Year,  Jon Armstrong has brought his amazing skills and magical comedy to prestigious audiences in over 30 countries worldwide.

After spending 5 years doing his show at Disney World, Vegas called and Jon answered, becoming a recurring headliner at Caesar's Magical Empire. It was between these runs in Vegas that Jon started doing tours all over the world as both a performer and lecturer, teaching others how to add humor and entertainment to their magic.

Brett Schneider Q&A

IMG_20180501_201827.jpg

Chicago Magic Lounge's very own Brett Schneider is in town  and will be headlining this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.

Brett Schneider has graciously agreed to sit down and talk with us about his process of creating magic as well as his experience conceiving and producing The Magic Play.

The Magic Play started right here in Chicago and has taken Brett all over the country.

"Though a good magician must always be in control of his show, his offstage life may be as fragile as a house of cards. When a rising young magician must take the stage just hours after his partner has left him, his performance begins to unravel. Overcome with heartbreak, he must accept that the inherent tricks and deceptions he uses to dazzle his audience are the very things that drove his lover away. Critically acclaimed magician, illusion designer and actor Brett Schneider stars in a mind-blowing spectacle that combines the allure of a live magic show with the poignant punch of Chicago theater." - The Goodman Theatre

We invite you to come out and have questions ready for a true master of the art. The Q&A will begin immediately following the 654 Club performance.

Q&A with Carisa Hendrix

LUCY-DARLING-117.jpg

Fire-eater, Bubblemancer, Magician, Balloon Artist... Carisa Hendrix does it all.

Carisa Hendrix grew up fascinated by the art of magic, creating her own tricks to fool her classmates at the age of 7. By the time she graduated from high school, she had become a skilled fire eater and sideshow artist and began doing shows around town to help pay the bills. It wasn’t long before a local magician saw her performances and natural stage presence and hired her on the spot as his new lovely assistant. Over the next 4 years, she worked with for 6 different magicians as an assistant before breaking out to create her own magic shows.

Since then Hendrix has done thousands of performance, written for magic magazines, been featured on iTricks, stage managed for the largest magic convention in the world, and starred in her own Las Vegas Illusion show in 2015.

Hendrix’s unique magical style was showcased nationwide as the star of a feature-length Super Channel documentary that first aired in October of 2016.

Hendrix continues to create and perform original magic in her shows all over the world, creating custom props and new magic in her Calgary based studio & workshop.
