Mister Danny is a magician and a high school science teacher. All day, he teaches students how the world works. By night, he lies to crowds all over Chicagoland, claiming he has magic powers.
He’s had enough.
In How It’s Done, Mister Danny pulls back the curtain and explains how the tricks work, from advanced science and complex mathematics to simple psychology and knuckle-busting sleight of hand. This show will entertain, astonish, and deceive you, and you might even learn something new.
The evening begins with close-up magic performed right at your cabaret table by our talented house magicians. In between visits, you have time to socialize, order from our friendly waitstaff, and enjoy the ambiance of the Harry Blackstone Cabaret Theater™.
About the Artist
In the world of magic, Danny Rudnick, better known as Mister Danny, is an award-winning magician and a fan favorite at Chicago Magic Lounge. He regularly appears on the Harry Blackstone Cabaret stage, performs close-up magic in The 654 Club, and occasionally serves as emcee of The Signature Show. His 2024 Artist-in-Residence show, Magic In Session, premiered to rave reviews at the Lounge.
Beyond the Lounge, Danny performs for corporate events and private parties, and gives monthly shows at the University of Chicago Children’s Hospital. Outside of magic, he teaches advanced chemistry and integrated science in Evanston, IL.
In 2024, his master’s research, “Use of Magic Tricks as Analogies in the Science Classroom,” was published in The European Journal of Mathematics and Science Education (https://doi.org/10.12973/ejmse.5.2.105).

How It’s Done will be presented on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, January 6 - March 31, 2027. Tickets are priced at $44.00 (Main Floor) and $50.00 (Front Row), plus a $4.99 processing fee per ticket.
The Harry Blackstone Cabaret offers unobstructed views from every section.
The cabaret-style seating, with elevated rail and banquette areas on the main floor, allows for maximum access to view the stage and enjoy a cocktail. This also means you and your party may share a table with other guests.
